Help Shape Our Future PTA Meetings
We are always looking for useful and informative topics to focus on at each monthly meeting. If you have ideas on what we should discuss please use this link to submit your ideas.
Coming Soon: Back to School Night
Back to School Night is September 19. Classroom visits are from 7 – 8:30 pm; this is for caregivers of all students grades 3-5. At 6:30 pm there is an Instrumental Music Meeting in the cafeteria; this is for caregivers of 4th and 5th graders who are registered for Instrumental Music. Because this is an adults only event, free childcare with Kids Adventures is available for all PBES families.
PTA Volunteer Needs
We need your help! Please use this link to express interest in PTA volunteer opportunities this year. We greatly need your help to ensure that programs and activities our students love can continue this year. Please email Sara Lewis (serowe@gmail.com) if you would be willing to contribute your time to a committee. A few high priority volunteer needs currently are:
1.) Staff Appreciation Planning Team
We have one returning member for the staff appreciation committee (thank you, Alisa!), but are in strong need of at least one other person to help Alisa lead this team. The staff appreciation committee recruits volunteers and donations to brighten our PBES staff members' days.
2.) Room Parent Volunteers
Room parents serve as a crucial classroom liaison between the teachers, parents and PTA. If you are interested in serving as a o-room parent for one of the following classes this year, please reach out to our room parent coordinator, Amie Kershner, at amielkershner@gmail.com. The following classes still need another room parent volunteer:
Claxton
Gazda
Giles
Granados
Berardi
Bolden
Eberly
Li
Serra
3.) NAACP Representative
We have one representative - just looking for one more! The NAACP representative attends monthly meetings or ensures PBES representation at monthly meetings, shares important information from the Parents' Council with the school community, plans/supports outreach events/activities at PBES and is a member of the NAACP.
4.) County Delegate
We have one delegate and are looking for second! This team attends County PTA meetings when possible and shares opportunities for the community to attend relevant hearings & meetings and posts updates on the listserve to keep PBES community informed of our advocacy efforts.
5.) Webmaster/Social Media Communications
This team helps maintain the PTA website, updating the website and social media to be user friendly and effective and works with our Communications VP and President on this important project.
6.) Translation Committee
We are looking for help in translating Spanish, ASL, Amharic, etc. for PBES PTA communications & PTA meetings. You will work with our Communications VP and Equity VPs to help make all of our efforts and communication accessible in Spanish or Amharic this year.
Join the PBES PTA for Free (or Renew Your Membership)
The PTA is a nonprofit organization whose funds support PBES and aim to enhance the learning experience of all of the students within the school. Therefore, the primary way to make this the best year for your family and our PBES community is to join the PTA! It’s free to join, but donations are appreciated!
