Community Resources

This is a new, recurring portion of Panther Tracks and we will update this section weekly with relevant information as needed. This week:

  • A message from BOE Superintendent Dr. Taylor: All our children deserve a high-quality education that fosters both academic excellence and well-being regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, disability, religion, or any other identifying characteristic. Read the full statement here.
  • MCPS is committed to ensuring that all students feel safe and welcome in our schools, regardless of immigration status. Click here to read the statement.
  • MCPS offers support to our Immigrant students and families. Click here for resources.
  • How does MCPS handle immigration enforcement visits to schools? Click here for more information.
  • How can I ensure my child's personal information is not shared? Under FERPA, schools may disclose directory information without consent unless the family completed an Annual Notice for Directory Information and Student Privacy form at the start of the year. If you would like to update your family's preference, please contact the main office.

Readathon Update

Congratulations to Ms. Davidson's (3rd grade), Ms. Li's (4th grade), and Ms. Patrick's (5th grade) classes, who read the most in week 1 of the Readathon! The students are doing amazing-- keep up the great reading! Please remember to turn in reading logs on Friday, and please remind your students to write their names clearly on their logs so they get credit for minutes read! Parent volunteer opportunities: We still need a parent who will volunteer to dress up as PB Jelly, the PBES mascot, for the Readathon assemblies on March 3 (9:35-10:10 for 3rd grade, 10:15-10:45 for 5th grade, and 2:15-2:45 for 4th grade). The sign-up document is here: PBES Readathon 2025 Parent Volunteers - Google Sheets Also, if you would like to donate Readathon prizes, the Amazon wishlist is here (Amazon.com), or you can just send in a PTA donation with the note “Readathon."
