Wednesday: Back to School Night
Instrumental Music Info is from 6:30 - 7 pm for 4th & 5th grade families enrolled in instrumental music only, and then two classroom sessions for the whole school from 7 - 7:30 and 7:30 - 8 pm. The PTA is sponsoring childcare onsite with KA during from 6:30 pm to 8 pm during Back to School Night. Please complete this form by the end of the day on Tuesday if you plan on using the provided childcare during the PBES Back to School Night on Wednesday. All children over the age of 5 are welcome free of charge for the duration of the event.
Little Scholars Registration Open, Scholarships Available
This fall we have partnered with Little Scholars for after school programming. There are nine fun and educational clubs available. Click this link to register. Registration is now open and ends at 5pm on September 17th. If you have any questions please reach out to Nicole Brown (nbrown@littlescholarsllc.com) or contact the PTA (pbes.pta@gmail.com). If you are in need of a scholarship please click this link and complete the form. Once you are approved you will be sent a code to register through this link.
Also, we are seeking donations to the Scholarships fund for Little Scholars. Donating to our after-school clubs scholarship fund ensures that every student who wants to attend Little Scholars after school programming can. Please click here to donate!
Needed: Hispanic Heritage Night Volunteers
Hispanic Heritage Night will be held at PBES this year on October 11. If you are able to volunteer to help with planning or as a one-time volunteer the evening of the 11th, please reach out to Mrs. Hernandez at Desiree_M_Hernandez@mcpsmd.org.
Wednesday Deadline for Instrumental Music
If your 4th or 5th grader is interested in joining instrumental music this year, enrollment forms must be submitted by Wednesday, September 13. This year, students can enroll by returning the last page of their packet to the box in the main office or by filling out the online form: Instrumental Music Enrollment Form. Classes will begin the week of September 26. If you have any questions about the program, please email Mrs. Pratt at Stacia_A_Pratt@mcpsmd.org
Needed: Staff Appreciation Gift Card Donations
The PTA's Staff Appreciation Committee is now collecting gift card donations! The PTA will host a gift card drawing for PBES staff members at their monthly staff meetings. Parents can donate gift cards that teachers might enjoy (maybe to Target/Amazon/book stores/coffee shops/restaurants/etc). You might already have some gift cards on hand that you wouldn't mind passing on! Or you can donate money and the Staff Appreciation Committee with purchase gift cards for the staff! Gift card amounts can vary! This is meant to be a fun little thank you to the staff. You can turn in the gift cards to Ms. Welch at the front desk at PBES. We will continue to collect gift cards all year long!

The PTA is a nonprofit organization whose funds support PBES and aim to enhance the learning experience of all of the students within the school. Therefore, the primary way to make this the best year for your family and our PBES community is to join the PTA! It’s free to join, but donations are appreciated!

Needed: Room Parent Volunteers
Room parents serve as a crucial classroom liaison between the teachers, parents and PTA. If you are interested in serving as a room parent or a co-room parent for your child’s class this year, please reach out to our room parent coordinator, Amie Kershner, at amielkershner@gmail.com. Amie is still looking for two room parents for Ms. Patrick's 5th grade class and one room parents for the following classes: Gazda, Granados, Eberly, Porter, Serra, Kenney, Luker.
Coming Soon: 15th Annual Play Day
The Let’s Play America 15th Annual Play Day will be held at Takoma Park Middle School on September 23 from 10am-2pm. Join the community for a spectacular day of more than 25 fun activities, square dancing, and a Story Walk. Everything is FREE at Play Day including the refreshments.
