Tonight: First PTA Meeting of the School Year

We look forward to seeing everyone at 8pm tonight (Tuesday, September 2nd) for the first monthly meeting of the PTA for this school year.  **Please note the new time***  The agenda will include introductions to both TPES & PBES principals as well as information about the coming school year.  A Zoom link will be sent out later today.

 

Join the PBES PTA

The PBES Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to enhance the learning experience for all of the school’s students. The BEST way to help make this year great is to join the PTA!

It’s free to join, with suggested annual membership dues of $25, and all donation amounts accepted.

Needed: Room Parent Volunteers

Room parents are a crucial classroom liaison between the teachers, parents, and the PTA.  If you are interested in serving as a room parent or a co-room parent for your child’s class this year, please reach out to our room parent coordinator, Amie Kershner, at amielkershner@gmail.com.  Even if you have already connected with your child's teacher about serving as a room parent, please do connect with Amie as well.

 

Needed: Volunteers to support the PTA

We need your help!  Please use this link or email pbes.pta.members@gmail.com to express interest in PTA volunteer opportunities this year. We greatly need your help to ensure that programs and activities our students love can continue this year. 

 

Here’s a list of the leadership roles needing to be filled. Our priority is to fill the top two bolded positions! We’ll provide more information about one-off volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

  • Hispanic Heritage Night Planning Team (September/October)*
  • Book Fair Planning Team (Fall)
  • Read-a-thon Planning Team (January/February/March)

A Message from PBES Rainbow Club:

Welcome back to school Panthers!  The Rainbow Club TKPK is shifting this year to separate our school and community work.  PBES Rainbow Club under new leadership this year, and we – J. HunterDae “HD” Goodridge (they/them/parent) and t aaron hans (ze/hir/he/him/parent), are excited to serve our community of parents and families at Piney Branch. 

 

As we know, there have been news reports and political decisions that affect our local communities and the nation, so we are here to remind you that there is an active and engaged community that can be a support for you and your family. 

 

A message to our immigrant communities: you are welcome here, and we stand with you.

A message from Montgomery County Schools Policy on Immigration and Students

  • Statement from BOE Superintendent Dr. Taylor: All our children deserve a high-quality education that fosters both academic excellence and well-being regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, disability, religion, or any other identifying characteristic.
  • How can I ensure my child's personal information is not shared? Under FERPA, schools may disclose directory information without consent unless the family completed an Annual Notice for Directory Information and Student Privacy form at the start of the year. If you would like to update your family's preference, please contact the main office.
  • Remind, ParentSquare, ParentVUE—What’s the Difference? Families often hear about different platforms for school communication, and we realize there’s confusion. Here’s a quick guide.
  • All You Need to Know for Lunch: The Free and Reduced-price Meals (FARMS) application is available for the 2025–2026 school year. A new FARMS application must be completed every school year. Meals are free for students who qualify for the program. Only one application is needed for all students in a household. Learn more.
